| "Death
Valley National Park is a land of unique beauty. It offers
colorful canyons, snow-capped mountains, ever-shifting sand dunes
sculpted by the winds, a stream of salty water and even a black crater
where the time stands still. This extremely harsh desert is
home to
unique plants and animals. I have depicted a spectacular
viewpoint
surrounded by beautifully eroded and colorful badlands. The
scenery
varies greatly depending on the direction of observation. I
have
carefully picked an angle and an elevation to maximize the sense of
vastness and depth. The interplay between light and shadow creates an
ultimate drama." (artwork and text published in "The Art of Conservation" book (2010)) |
