| "The
Joshua tree is the largest of the yuccas.
It grows naturally only in the Mojave desert and
nowhere else in the
world. Joshua Tree
National Park is a
privileged place where one can admire extensive natural stands of this
unique
plant. Moreover,
this park has an extraordinary geology.
"Jumbo
Rocks" depicts a spectacular
sculpturing of granite rocks. Here
and
there, yuccas and other plants grow, adding life and color to the scene. The long and narrow format
of the painting
helps conveying the beauty of the extensive rock formation and helps
strengthening the composition. In
the
early morning light, the scene is dazzlingly beautiful." (artwork and text published in "The Art of Conservation" book (2010)) |
